SEBUYAU – Residents of Kampung Sangki Melayu will soon benefit from upgraded surau facilities following the implementation of a house of worship improvement project under the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) for the Sebuyau State Legislative Assembly (DUN) area.
The project, carried out by the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) with Syarikat Ahaz as the main contractor, commenced on 10 June 2025 and is scheduled for completion by 27 October 2025.
Sarawak Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications and Sebuyau Assemblyman (ADUN) Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi visited the project site on Monday to assess progress and ensure that construction remains on schedule.
His visit also focused on construction site safety, quality of work, and compliance with technical standards to ensure the facility will fully meet the community’s needs once completed.
The surau upgrade is expected to provide a more comfortable and conducive space for worship while also supporting a range of religious and community activities in Kampung Sangki Melayu.
Dato Sri Julaihi said the project reflects the Sarawak Government’s commitment through the RTP initiative to strengthen basic rural infrastructure, improve the quality of life, and reduce the development gap between urban and rural communities.
