Lorry and Motorcycle Collide in Asajaya, Rider Suffers Hip Injury

KOTA SAMARAHAN: A 27-year-old man sustained hip injuries after his motorcycle collided with a six-tonne lorry at Kampung Semera Lot Baru, Asajaya, this morning.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre (PGO) reported receiving an emergency call regarding the incident at 11.08am.

According to the department, the Asajaya Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) dispatched six personnel along with a Light Fire Rescue Vehicle (LFRT) and a Nissan Navara utility vehicle to the scene, which was located about six kilometres from the station.

“Upon arrival at 11.15am, the team found that a motorcycle had been involved in a collision with a lorry, leaving a male victim injured in the hip,” a JBPM spokesperson said in a statement today.

The victim was immediately given initial assistance at the scene. PBK Operations Commander I Nor Aini Usop and her team moved the man to a safe location before handing him over to the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Asajaya. He was later sent to the Asajaya Health Clinic for further treatment.

The rescue team confirmed that the operation was fully completed at 11.30am.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but authorities reminded road users to exercise caution, especially along village routes where heavy vehicles and motorcycles often share the same narrow roads.

This accident highlights the importance of road safety awareness in rural areas like Asajaya, where motorcycles remain a common mode of transportation.
