IDCA’s ASEAN Head, Shariman Saidiq, said he led a delegation to meet with Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr. Abang Johari Openg today to present IDCA’s role in advising governments on digital economy policies and strategies.

He explained that building a robust digital economy requires a holistic infrastructure base, including communication towers, advanced data centers, and reliable global connectivity through fiber optic and submarine cables. During the meeting, the Premier highlighted that Sarawak’s goal extends beyond setting up local hubs or facilities, stressing the need for comprehensive international networks to fully support growth.

“IDCA recognizes that the Premier understands the critical role of digital infrastructure. We are ready to contribute by assessing and enhancing Sarawak’s development roadmap to ensure it is truly future-proof, especially in the field of data center expansion,” Shariman said.
