MERADONG: A Special Trade Operation carried out by the Meradong District Police Headquarters (IPD) has led to the detention of four lorries carrying dangerous log loads that exceeded the permitted limit. The operation was conducted yesterday as part of efforts to enhance road safety and prevent accidents caused by overloaded commercial vehicles.
Meradong District Police Chief, DSP Tansli Mering, said the enforcement focused on ensuring heavy vehicles do not pose risks to other road users.
“The operation was led by Insp Rizal Md Isa together with the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Division of IPD Meradong. The lorries were stopped along Jalan Bintangor-Sibu and Jalan Kelupu, Bintangor, where we found them carrying dangerous loads beyond the legal weight limit,” he explained.
According to DSP Tansli, four summonses were issued to the lorry drivers for carrying unsafe loads that could endanger other motorists. He also stressed that such offences are taken seriously by the police, as they have the potential to cause major accidents on the road.
“The safety of all road users is our priority. We will continue to intensify operations like this to ensure lorry operators and drivers abide by the law and avoid putting others at risk,” he added.
He also reminded all drivers, especially those operating heavy vehicles, to always comply with safety regulations and avoid negligence.
“Road safety is a shared responsibility. We urge all drivers not to take it lightly. Obeying traffic laws is crucial in protecting not only your own life but also the lives of others,” DSP Tansli said.
The Special Trade Operation highlights the continuous effort of the police to monitor and enforce road regulations, ensuring that overloaded vehicles are kept off the roads in Meradong and surrounding areas.
