Sarawak Deputy Premier Urges Chinese Community to Stay United for Future

SIBU – Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian has called on the Chinese community to remain united and proactive in contributing to the nation’s long-term development, stressing the importance of preparing for future generations.

Speaking at the Sibu United Chinese Association (UCA) Division New Committee Member Inauguration Dinner held at Wisma UCA Sibu on Sunday, Dr Sim highlighted that unity and education are critical pillars to sustain growth and resilience.

“We are here today not just for ourselves, but to build a nation for the next generation. Education, values, and perseverance will determine the strength of our future,” he said during his keynote remarks.

He underscored that organisations such as the UCA play an essential role in fostering unity and nurturing shared values within the Chinese community.

Dr Sim also pointed out that the involvement of youth and women will become increasingly crucial in shaping the state’s social and economic progress.

Looking ahead, he emphasised that Sarawak’s advancement depends on collective cooperation, with a clear vision toward 2030 a year tied to the state’s development strategies.

According to him, achieving these goals will require strong partnerships across families, businesses, and community networks.

The event gathered community leaders and members who reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the Chinese community’s role in Sarawak’s wider nation-building efforts.
