Hui Sing Community Celebrates Malaysia Day With Flag Giveaway

Hui Sing Community Celebrates Malaysia Day With Flag Giveaway

KUCHING — In the spirit of unity and patriotism, Komuniti Madani Taman Hui Sing organised the Program Jiwa@Komuniti Madani Hari Kebangsaan dan Hari Malaysia 2025 as part of the upcoming Malaysia Day celebrations.

The programme, held on Wednesday, saw the active involvement of community leaders, government officers, and local residents. Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng joined the event alongside Pemanca Tan Kun Gee. Officers from the Sarawak State Information Department (Jabatan Penerangan Sarawak) and members of the Hui Sing Madani Community Committee also took part.

During the programme, the group distributed Malaysian flags to coffee shop owners, customers, and business operators around the Hui Sing commercial area. The simple yet symbolic gesture was aimed at instilling patriotism and encouraging the community to proudly display the Jalur Gemilang ahead of Malaysia Day on 16 September.

Pemanca Tan Kun Gee, stressing that such initiatives remind the younger generation of the struggles and sacrifices made to build the nation. He also encouraged more community groups to organise similar patriotic activities to keep the Malaysian spirit alive.

The event ended with smiles and laughter as residents of Hui Sing accepted the flags and expressed gratitude for the effort. Many shop owners immediately placed the flags at their stalls and premises, bringing a festive Malaysia Day atmosphere to the neighbourhood.

The Program Jiwa@Komuniti Madani is part of a wider nationwide effort to engage local communities in celebrating National Day and Malaysia Day, while promoting unity, inclusiveness, and pride in being Malaysian.
