Sarawak Govt Supports Upgrade of PDRM Tabuan Jaya Housing Complex

Sarawak Govt Supports Upgrade of PDRM Tabuan Jaya Housing Complex

KUCHING — The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) Tabuan Jaya Housing Complex will undergo an upgrade, as the Sarawak Government recognises its strategic location along the development corridor in Kota Samarahan.

Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg said the state government is committed to improving police facilities to ensure law enforcement officers are well-equipped to carry out their duties.

“With the rapid growth of projects in Samarahan, including new road expansions, digital traffic light systems, and the upcoming Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) route, the Tabuan Jaya Police Complex sits in a very strategic position.

“Although there was no federal allocation for upgrades, I assured Police Commissioner Dato Mancha Ata that the state government will provide assistance,” he said during the launch of the upgrading works at the complex today.

At the same event, the Premier handed over four new four-wheel drive vehicles to the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN) at the Sarawak Police Headquarters. He revealed that RM5 million from the Sarawak Government was allocated to repaint and improve the housing complex.

Abang Zohari also announced that more funds will be channelled to beautify the officer bungalows in the complex, to create a better living environment for police personnel.

In addition, he said he had proposed to PDRM leadership and Home Minister Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail to increase the number of police stations across Sarawak to meet growing security needs.

The event was also attended by Sarawak Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, Police Inspector-General Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail, Bukit Aman JSJN Director Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, Sarawak Police Commissioner Dato Mancha Ata, Security and Enforcement Unit Director Abdul Wahab Rahim, and other distinguished guests.

The Premier’s announcement reflects the state’s commitment to supporting frontline security forces while aligning police facilities with ongoing development in Samarahan. — UKAS EDITION
