PUCHONG – A garbage lorry crashed into the Puchong South Toll Plaza along the Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP) heading towards Bandar Bukit Puchong on Friday afternoon, in an incident that has since gone viral on social media.
A 22-second dashcam recording from another vehicle captured the moment the lorry lost control and rammed into the toll barrier at approximately 1.53pm. The impact caused visible damage to the toll lane structure, but fortunately, no fatalities have been reported.
Authorities have yet to confirm the identity or condition of the driver involved. Initial investigations suggest that the lorry may have experienced a mechanical failure or brake problem before the collision.
Eyewitnesses who were nearby described hearing a loud crash followed by debris scattering across the toll lanes. Traffic flow in the area was briefly disrupted as highway personnel and emergency responders worked to clear the scene.
This latest incident has reignited public concern about lorry-related accidents on major highways. It comes only weeks after a similar tragedy at the Bukit Kajang Toll Plaza, where a lorry ploughed into several vehicles, killing two people and injuring several others.
Motorists have taken to social media urging stricter enforcement of safety inspections for heavy vehicles, particularly those carrying loads through toll areas and urban routes. Many called on the authorities to take tougher action against poorly maintained vehicles that pose risks to other road users.
The Selangor police and highway concessionaire Litrak are expected to issue an official statement once investigations are completed.
For now, motorists are advised to remain cautious, especially when approaching toll plazas where heavy vehicles are present.
