KUCHING, Nov 2 — The Sarawak Regatta 2025 concluded in spectacular fashion along the vibrant Kuching Waterfront when Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, surprised thousands of spectators by riding a jet ski across the Sarawak River — an electrifying finale that set the crowd roaring with excitement.

The Premier’s confident and relaxed glide across the river was met with thunderous applause from onlookers packed tightly along both banks. Many were seen waving and cheering as he passed the main grandstand, exuding a sense of pride and joy that perfectly captured the festival’s lively spirit.

Adding royal grandeur to the event, His Royal Highness the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, and Her Royal Highness Tengku Ampuan Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, graced the celebration and were seen applauding the Premier’s spirited act from the VIP stage.

The Sarawak Governor, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, also attended the closing ceremony, closely following the intense final race featuring 16 perahu bidar teams battling fiercely for the coveted Raja Sungai crown.

The day’s events were not just about competition but celebration — showcasing Sarawak’s unity, tradition, and deep cultural pride.
