Sebuyau Assemblyman Provides Immediate Aid to Kampung Mambai Fire Victim

SEBUYAU – A resident of Kampung Mambai, whose home was destroyed in a recent fire, has received immediate assistance from the constituency’s leadership.

The donation was presented during a brief ceremony on Monday, reflecting swift action to support those affected.

The contribution was handed over by Sebuyau Assistant District Officer Louis Andria Barieng, who represented Sarawak Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications and Sebuyau State Assemblyman (ADUN) Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi.

The recipient, Nancy Mapi, expressed gratitude for the aid, which comes as a relief in the aftermath of the incident.

Louis Andria explained that the assistance symbolises Dato Sri Julaihi’s concern for the welfare of residents impacted by disasters.

“It is hoped that this initial assistance can ease the burden of the victims while waiting for follow-up assistance,” he said.

Following the ceremony, Louis Andria inspected the remains of the destroyed house to assess the extent of damage.

He noted that authorities will continue to evaluate the situation and coordinate further support to help with recovery and reconstruction.

The fire, which left the victim without shelter, has drawn attention to the importance of community solidarity and rapid response in times of crisis.

Local leaders emphasised that additional aid will be mobilised to ensure affected families can rebuild their lives.

Also present at the event were Sebuyau District Iban Community Leader Merum Babu, Sebangan Area Iban Community Leader Japang Sudin, and Mambai Sebuyau Village Chief Aiden Turki, underscoring the collective effort of community representatives in supporting the victim.

The incident highlights the role of elected representatives and local authorities in providing immediate relief while ensuring long-term recovery measures are in place.

For residents of Sebuyau, such gestures reinforce the importance of unity and compassion in overcoming adversity.
