The ASEAN Secretariat Staff Welfare Committee 2025 hosted the ASEAN Secretariat Gala Dinner on 9 December at the ASEAN Headquarters in Jakarta, marking the culmination of the annual ASEC Staff Outing.

Presided over by Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr Kao Kim Hourn, the event brought together senior officials including Deputy Secretary-General for ASEAN Community and Corporate Affairs (CCA), Nararya S. Soeprapto, and Deputy Secretary-General for ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC), San Lwin, alongside staff members from across the Secretariat.

He highlighted the importance of fostering a positive workplace culture, encouraging the committee to continue developing activities that promote unity, engagement, and teamwork among Secretariat staff.

The Gala Dinner featured cultural performances, team-building activities, and moments of reflection on the Secretariat’s accomplishments throughout 2025.

Staff members noted that the event not only celebrated diversity but also reinforced the values of collaboration and harmony that underpin ASEAN’s mission.

Observers view such gatherings as vital in strengthening the internal bonds of the Secretariat, ensuring that staff remain motivated and aligned with ASEAN’s broader objectives.

The gala underscored the organisation’s commitment to cultivating a supportive environment where professional achievements are matched by personal connections.

As ASEAN prepares for another year of regional cooperation and leadership transitions, the Gala Dinner served as a reminder that unity within the Secretariat is essential to delivering on the bloc’s priorities.

The celebration highlighted how shared experiences and cultural appreciation can reinforce the human dimension of diplomacy and administration.
