Rain Fails to Stop 12th New Year Resolution Charity Run

KUCHING — The 12th New Year Resolution Charity Run was successfully held in Kuching despite heavy rain, proving once again that community spirit and determination can overcome challenging conditions. The long-running annual event brought together participants from all walks of life, all united by a shared commitment to charity, health, and community service as the new year begins.

Organised by the City Jogger’s Club, the charity run has grown into a meaningful tradition over the years. Even with persistent rainfall, participants turned up in strong numbers, showing their continued belief in the cause. Many runners completed the route under wet and slippery conditions, encouraged by fellow participants and volunteers along the way. The organisers described the atmosphere as one filled with unity, perseverance, and heartfelt support.

The event was honoured by the presence of the Guest of Honour, Mayor of Kuching South Dato Wee Hong Seng, and Deputy Mayor Dato Zaiedi Suhaili. Their attendance was seen as a strong sign of support for community-driven initiatives that promote healthy lifestyles while raising funds for charitable organisations. Both leaders were warmly received by participants and organisers, reinforcing the importance of cooperation between local authorities and community groups.

Special appreciation was also extended to the City Jogger’s Club marshal team. Their dedication, professionalism, and strong commitment ensured the safety of all participants and the smooth running of the event, even under difficult weather conditions. Their role was crucial in managing routes, monitoring runners, and maintaining order throughout the programme.

The organisers expressed sincere gratitude to all partners and sponsors who contributed to the success of the run. These include Kuching South City Council, 38 Yayasan Amal Cinta as the main sponsor, Go Beyond Enterprise, Mayora Malaysia Sdn Bhd, VICO, AEON Mall Kuching, Y Sandal (SWK) Sdn Bhd, Lee Fah Mee Sdn Bhd, Honey B, May Chia, Shin Kee Goldsmith, Delfi Marketing Sdn Bhd, and Sarawak Daily. Their continued support has helped ensure that the charity run remains sustainable and impactful.

Proceeds from the event will benefit several organisations, namely Kuching Autistic Resource and Education Centre, Kuching City District Scout Council, Kuching Palliative Association, Humane Animal Society Sarawak, and Kuching Life Care Society. The organisers said these beneficiaries represent different segments of society, reflecting the inclusive spirit of the run.

In conclusion, City Jogger’s Club thanked all participants, volunteers, sponsors, partners, and supporters for making the 12th New Year Resolution Charity Run a memorable one. The club reaffirmed its commitment to continuing this tradition and looks forward to running together with the community again in the years ahead.
