Premier Abang Johari Openg Announces Study Following Prime Minister’s Declaration
SARAWAK: The Sarawak government is contemplating the possibility of increasing the salaries of state civil servants, as announced by Premier Abang Johari Openg. This decision comes in response to Prime Minister Ana Ibrahim’s declaration of a more than 13% increase in civil servants’ remuneration this year, marking the highest rise ever granted to civil servants.
Comprehensive Study Initiated
Premier Abang Johari Openg stated that a thorough study would be conducted to assess the feasibility and implications of raising state civil servants’ salaries. The study will examine various factors and is anticipated to conclude within one and a half months. An official announcement regarding the matter will be made upon the completion of the study.
Pang Government to Deliberate
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Chao Kyo of Pang revealed that the Pang government would discuss potential salary increments for state civil servants during the upcoming State Executive Council meeting. He mentioned that the State Finance Department would evaluate the additional expenditure required should the state decide to implement a salary raise.
Significant Allocation for Salary Adjustment
Prime Minister Ana disclosed earlier today that the government has allocated more than 10 billion ringgit for the salary adjustment, which will be applicable to all civil servants across the country.
