PFLP Condemns US Aggression, Expresses Solidarity with Venezuela

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) has issued a statement strongly condemning what it described as “brutal US imperialist aggression” against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, following reports of US airstrikes on Caracas and surrounding states.

The group characterised the attacks as part of a “new chapter of organised American violence” aimed at undermining sovereign nations. It expressed full solidarity with Venezuela’s leadership, government, and people, particularly President Nicolás Maduro, who has declared a state of emergency in Venezuela in response to the US bombardments.

According to the PFLP, Venezuela is being targeted for its “principled positions against hegemony” and for its longstanding support of the Palestinian cause. The organisation stressed that the strikes were not only an assault on Venezuela, but also a threat to all nations defending their independent national decisions.

The statement warned that continued US military escalation could ignite new conflict zones globally, destabilising regions beyond Latin America. “The attack on Venezuela is an assault on every nation that defends its independent national decision,” the group said.

The condemnation comes amid mounting international concern. Venezuela has reported that the United States has carried out missile and air strikes on military and civilian sites in Caracas, Miranda, Aragua, and La Guaira.

Venezuelan President Maduro has called on the United Nations and the Organisation of American States (OAS) to convene emergency sessions, while neighbouring Colombia has urged de-escalation and dialogue.

The PFLP’s statement underscores the broader geopolitical implications of the crisis, linking Venezuela’s plight to global struggles against foreign intervention. It also highlights the historic ties between Venezuela and Palestine, with Caracas often voicing support for Palestinian rights in international forums.

As the situation unfolds, observers warn that the confrontation could deepen divisions across Latin America and beyond, with solidarity movements aligning against what they perceive as imperialist aggression.
