PANTU – Residents of Kampung Jengok Pantu affected by recent floods received much-needed assistance when 26 sets of dry food baskets were distributed in an aid programme on Monday.
The handover took place at Pangkalan Pantu Jetty, coordinated by the Sri Aman Social Welfare Department (JKM) in partnership with the Sarawak Security and Enforcement Unit (UKPS).
Rising water levels had rendered the main access road to the village impassable, cutting off land connections and making waterways the only viable route for delivery.
The food baskets contained essential supplies aimed at easing the burden of families impacted by the floods.
Authorities explained that the decision to transport aid by river was crucial to ensure timely and safe delivery to the affected households.
