ANKARA – Malaysia and the Republic of Turkey have witnessed the exchange of seven significant documents, marking a new phase in strengthening strategic cooperation across multiple national priority areas.
The signing ceremony underscored the determination of both nations to build a more structured and progressive partnership, guided by long-term benefits and mutual interests.
Among the documents exchanged were:
- Letter of Acceptance (LoA) for the procurement of a Multipurpose Mission Ship (MPMS) 2 between Malaysia’s Ministry of Home Affairs and Turkey’s Desan Shipyard.
- Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) between the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and Turkey’s Information and Communication Technology Authority.
- Research Cooperation MoU between the Malaysian Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) and Turkey’s SETA Foundation, covering political, economic, and social fields.
- Financial Cooperation MoU between EXIM Bank Malaysia and Türk Eximbank.
- Investment Cooperation MoU between the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and Invest Türkiye.
- Exchange of Minutes from the first meeting of the Malaysia-Türkiye Joint Committee on Higher Education.
- Joint Declaration on the establishment of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC).
At a joint press conference following the ceremony, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that each collaboration is implemented in a disciplined, transparent, and effective manner.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim highlighted that these agreements reflect Malaysia and Turkey’s shared vision of complementarity and mutual respect.
He noted that the documents serve as catalysts for deeper cooperation in defence, technology, finance, education, and investment, while also strengthening ties in regional and multilateral frameworks.
The exchange of documents further cements the long-standing friendship between Malaysia and Turkey, paving the way for enhanced collaboration in areas critical to both nations’ development.
Leaders from both countries expressed confidence that the partnership will continue to flourish, built on trust, respect, and shared strategic interests.
