PADAWAN – The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) has announced the opening of a mobile counter to facilitate the collection of Assessment Tax for the year 2026.
The initiative aims to make the payment process more accessible to residents and ensure that outstanding arrears are addressed.
The mobile counter will operate on Sunday, 18 January 2026, from 8.00 am to 1.00 pm at Dewan Hare Kristna Multipurpose Hall, Jalan Arang.
Residents are encouraged to attend and settle their dues conveniently without needing to visit the council’s main office.
Taxpayers are advised to bring along their assessment details and explain both their current year’s tax obligations and any arrears to the officer on duty.
This measure is intended to streamline the process, reduce congestion at the council office, and provide direct assistance to those who may have queries regarding their payments.
Assessment Tax is a local levy imposed by municipal councils to fund essential services such as waste management, road maintenance, street lighting and community facilities. Timely payment ensures that these services can be sustained and improved for the benefit of residents.
The mobile counter initiative reflects MPP’s commitment to enhancing public service delivery and strengthening engagement with the community.
By bringing services closer to neighbourhoods, the council hopes to encourage higher compliance rates and foster greater awareness of civic responsibilities.
In addition to the mobile counter, residents may also settle their payments at the MPP office. Officers will be available to provide clarification on tax calculations, arrears and payment options.
The council has reminded residents that prompt settlement of assessment tax is crucial for maintaining Padawan’s infrastructure and supporting ongoing development projects.
The initiative is part of broader efforts to modernise service delivery and ensure that residents have convenient access to municipal facilities.
