LAWAS – The Lawas Administrative Office Complex (AOC) is set to be handed over to the Sarawak Government in February, marking a major step toward more streamlined and efficient delivery of government services in the district.
The announcement came from Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki during his site visit on Saturday, where he checked on the final stages of construction.
According to a briefing from the Limbang Division Public Works Department (JKR), the project is in its final phase and remains on track to meet the scheduled completion date. The 15-storey complex will bring multiple government agencies under one roof, forming a central hub for administrative operations.
During his visit, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar toured several office spaces and highlighted that centralizing agencies in one location will strengthen inter-department coordination, simplify administrative processes, and improve service delivery for Lawas residents.
The Lawas AOC Complex demonstrates the Sarawak Government’s commitment to upgrading administrative infrastructure in the state’s northern region. Officials noted that the project meets current demands, supports the growing public service, and aligns with the government’s goal of enhancing the quality of service delivery.
The complex is expected to boost efficiency, reduce overlapping efforts, and enable faster responses to public needs. For residents of Lawas, the new facility promises easier access to government services and a more organised administrative system.
Also present at the inspection were Lawas MP Dato Henry Sum Agong, Limbang Division Resident Yunus Tambi, Lawas District Officer Ladin Atok, Director of the Public Service Digitalisation Unit of the Sarawak Premier’s Department Datu Grace Huong Siew Hung, and Director of the Administration Unit of the Sarawak Premier’s Department Rusmaliza Mat Darus.
The handover of the Lawas AOC Complex next month is poised to usher in a new chapter in Sarawak’s administrative landscape, reinforcing the state’s long-term vision for modern, responsive, and people-focused governance.
