Young Man Injured in Late-Night Accident on Jalan Repok

SARIKEI: A 21-year-old man sustained serious injuries, including a broken left arm and a wounded left thigh, after a road accident on Jalan Repok last night.

According to Sarikei District Civil Defence Officer, Lieutenant (PA) Shahrol Azizi Zaidi, the emergency services received a distress call from the public at 10.54 pm regarding the incident.

“In response to the emergency call, three members of the Sarikei Civil Defence Force (APM) were immediately deployed to the scene,” he said when contacted today.

Upon arrival, the APM team conducted an initial assessment of the victim and discovered the extent of his injuries. Lieutenant Shahrol Azizi added that the victim received prompt first aid on-site before being transported to the hospital.

“The victim was given initial treatment by our members before being sent to the hospital in an APM ambulance. The operation was completed at 11.36 pm after the patient was safely handed over for further medical care,” he said.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, and authorities are urging motorists to remain vigilant, especially during late-night hours. The Sarikei Civil Defence Force reminded the public that timely reporting and quick response are critical in reducing the severity of injuries in road accidents.

This incident highlights the importance of road safety and the efficiency of emergency response teams in Sarikei, who continue to work tirelessly to assist accident victims and ensure public safety.
