JPJ Sibu Targets Commercial Vehicles in Ops Gempur

SIBU – The JPJ Sibu Branch carried out Ops Gempur Commercial Vehicles on 10 February 2026, targeting compliance among commercial vehicle operators and drivers.

The operation was attended by Tuan Norizan bin Jili, Director of JPJ Sarawak, who personally oversaw the enforcement activities. His presence highlighted the department’s commitment to strict monitoring of commercial transport.

During the operation, 30 commercial vehicles were inspected. Officers found several violations, including carrying dangerous loads, breaches of LPKP permit conditions, unauthorised modifications to vehicle structures and equipment, and other technical offences that could compromise road safety.

JPJ Sarawak emphasised that non-compliance in the commercial sector is particularly high-risk, posing dangers to both drivers and the public.

The department reiterated that enforcement will continue consistently to ensure all commercial vehicles meet regulations.

Officials noted that while commercial vehicles are vital to the state’s economy, safety must remain the top priority. Strict enforcement helps reduce accidents, protect road users, and maintain public confidence in transport services.

The operation reflects JPJ’s broader approach of pairing enforcement with advocacy, ensuring awareness campaigns are supported by firm action against violations. Similar initiatives will be expanded across Sarawak to strengthen road safety standards.

JPJ Sarawak concluded by reminding operators and drivers to fully comply with permit conditions, technical requirements, and safety regulations.

Cooperation from the commercial sector is essential to creating safer roads and protecting the well-being of the community.
