Sarawak Governor Welcomes Works Minister’s Courtesy Visit in Kuching

KUCHING – The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, together with his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, received a courtesy visit from Malaysia’s Minister of Works, Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, and his wife, Dato Angelina Celestine Ujang, at Kasuma Resort on 16 March.

The meeting took place at 11.00 am. The minister visited to personally deliver a wedding invitation to the governor and his spouse. The invitation was for the marriage of the couple’s daughter, Lilian Binjan Nanta, to Jared Jimbau Chabu. The ceremony is scheduled for April at a well-known hotel in Kuching.

During the visit, Alexander Nanta Linggi thanked the Governor and Toh Puan for welcoming his family. He explained his wish to hand over the invitation card in person as a sign of respect toward the governor and his office.

Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan Fauziah congratulated the minister and his wife on their daughter’s upcoming wedding. They also offered prayers and warm wishes for a joyful ceremony filled with happiness.

The visit reflected long-standing ties between Sarawak leaders and federal ministers. Personal visits such as this hold strong cultural value in Malaysia and often serve as a gesture of respect while strengthening relationships among leaders.

Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi assumed the role of Sarawak Governor in 2023 and has welcomed many officials and dignitaries to Kuching since taking office. Alexander Nanta Linggi, who has held several ministerial posts over the years, keeps close links with Sarawak, his home state.

The wedding in April is expected to bring together relatives, friends, and prominent guests. With Kuching hosting the event, the city will once again provide the setting for a major social gathering involving state and national figures.
