JULAU – A ground breaking ceremony has been held for the construction of a new road linking Jalan Nanga Lasi to Suchong and Balut, marking the start of a major infrastructure project in Julau.

The road, stretching approximately 8.5 kilometres, will be built to JKR Road Standards R1. It will begin from the existing Jalan Lasi and extend towards Suchong and Balut.

The development also includes the construction of six reinforced concrete bridges, the installation of sewer and drainage systems, and road furniture to ensure safety and comfort for users.

The project is being implemented by Sara Muhibbah Sdn Bhd as the main contractor, with Infrareka Engineers Sdn Bhd appointed as the civil and structural consultant. The total cost stands at RM82 million, with an implementation period of 36 months.

Officials highlighted that the new road will provide significant benefits to local residents, including improved accessibility, better communication facilities, and enhanced opportunities for economic growth.

By connecting rural communities more effectively, the project is expected to support trade, education, and healthcare access in Julau and surrounding areas.

Community leaders welcomed the initiative, noting that the construction of bridges and drainage systems will address long-standing challenges related to flooding and limited mobility. The project is seen as a vital step in ensuring safer and more reliable transport routes for residents.

The ceremony underscored the government’s commitment to delivering infrastructure projects that directly improve the lives of rural communities.

With work now underway, the road is expected to become a key link in strengthening connectivity and fostering development in Julau.
