Miri Division Administration Hosts Records Transfer and Disposal Course

MIRI – The Miri Division Administration held a departmental course on records transfer and disposal at the Resident’s Office Meeting Room on 14 April 2026.

The programme brought together 28 officers from across the division to strengthen knowledge of records management practices.

The course was conducted by Ms Jeysi Halmi, Librarian from the Records Management Sector, and Mrs Ayu Lestari Yahya, Librarian from the Archive Management Sector of the Sarawak State Library.

Their joint facilitation provided participants with a comprehensive overview of procedures for both disposal and transfer of records.

Officers were guided through the official framework for identifying records suitable for disposal, ensuring compliance with state-level standards.

They were also introduced to methods for preparing disposal lists and the processes required to transfer records of permanent value to the Sarawak State Library.

The training emphasised the importance of distinguishing between records that can be safely disposed of and those that must be preserved for historical or administrative purposes.

By equipping officers with this knowledge, the course aimed to improve efficiency in managing departmental archives while safeguarding valuable documentation.
