SONG – The Song District Police Headquarters (IPD) launched a comprehensive integrated operation aimed at curbing criminal activities and enhancing public safety in the town centre.
Commencing at 9:00 am on 29 July 2026, the initiative brought together officers from various divisions to conduct high-visibility patrols and engage directly with the local community.
Led by Inspector Kennedy Johnny, Head of the Commercial Crime Investigation Division, the operation deployed a team of twenty Junior Police Officers.
This multi-disciplinary approach allowed for a broad range of enforcement activities, from traffic checks to crime prevention advisories.
The primary objective was to deter property crimes, identify suspicious individuals and vehicles, and ensure a secure environment for residents and businesses alike.
A significant component of the operation focused on community engagement. Officers interacted extensively with traders and customers in Pekan Song, fostering dialogue and building trust.
During these interactions, police personnel distributed leaflets regarding the Volunteer Smartphone Patrol (VSP) application.

Three new members registered for the VSP programme during the event, indicating growing interest in community-led security initiatives.
Education on current crime trends was also a key feature of the day. Officers advised local business owners to install closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems to enhance the security of their premises.

Additionally, the police provided information on the JSJK Sarawak Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) Scam Response Centre hotline, urging the public to remain vigilant against fraudsters.

These inspections helped to verify identities, ensure vehicle roadworthiness, and detect any persons on the wanted list.
As a result of these checks, four summonses were issued for various traffic violations. While the number of penalties was relatively low, the presence of police served as a strong deterrent to potential offenders.
Superintendent Benedict Faris Bin Jimoy, the Chief of Police for the Song District, described the operation as part of IPD Song’s continuous effort to improve public safety through omnipresence.
He emphasised that regular patrols and inspections are essential for maintaining order and preventing crime before it occurs.
