MIRI – A forty-seven-year-old man has been handed a severe sentence of fifty years in prison and twenty-four strokes of the cane after admitting to eight counts of incestuous rape against his own biological daughter.
The judgment was delivered by the Miri Sessions Court on 28 July 2026, marking the conclusion of a harrowing case that spanned over a decade.
The accused pleaded guilty to charges brought under Section 376B(1) of the Penal Code, which specifically addresses sexual offences involving family members. In addition to the custodial sentence and corporal punishment, the court ordered the defendant to pay compensation of RM5,000 to the victim.
The judge stipulated that failure to pay this sum would result in an additional six months of imprisonment, ensuring that financial restitution is taken seriously alongside the criminal penalty.
