BINTULU – The Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) and the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) held an official visit and strategic cooperation session on 21 April 2026, aimed at reinforcing ties and exploring future collaborative initiatives.
The SSM delegation, led by Encik Thanak A/L Prak Hin, State Director of SSM Sarawak, comprised seven officials in total.
Their arrival was warmly received by BDA General Manager Yang Berusaha Datu Haji Muhammad Yakup bin Kari, Assistant General Manager Tuan Haji Abdul Rahim bin Abdullah, and other BDA representatives.
The agenda of the visit included information-sharing sessions, reviews of data-matching processes, proposals for integrated operations, and discussions on current issues relevant to both agencies.
These exchanges were designed to identify areas where cooperation could be deepened and to ensure that both organisations remain aligned in their objectives.
Officials emphasised that the partnership between SSM and BDA is crucial for strengthening regulatory oversight while supporting local development.
By combining resources and expertise, the agencies aim to improve efficiency in enforcement, enhance transparency, and foster a more conducive environment for businesses operating in Bintulu.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of collaboration in addressing challenges faced by both regulatory and development authorities.
With Bintulu continuing to grow as a hub for industry and commerce, the cooperation is expected to provide a stronger framework for managing business activities and supporting sustainable development.
The visit concluded with a shared commitment to expand the existing cooperation network. Both sides expressed optimism that the partnership would open opportunities for joint initiatives in the future, reinforcing Bintulu’s position as a key centre for economic growth in Sarawak.
