Governor of Sarawak Welcomes Courtesy Visit from Orang Ulu National Association

KUCHING – The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, together with his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, received a courtesy visit from the Sarawak National Orang Ulu Association (OUNA) at Astana Sarawak this morning.

The delegation, led by OUNA President Dato Dr Abu Bakar bin Abdullah @ Tom Belarek, arrived at 10.00 am accompanied by members of the organisation’s central committee.

Among those present were Lade Kulong, KK Renly Gau, Ibau Emang, Councillor Philip Anyi, Andrious Ding, Laing Budah, Councillor Angelie Raymond, Nursofiatulnisa Adillah Abdullah, Anyie Wan @ Anyi Wan Ului, John Usang Jau, Rose Bara, Maxwell Laing, Arthur Lee Cheng Chuan, Salih Sulaiman and Langai Maran.

The purpose of the visit was to formally extend an invitation to the Governor and his wife to attend OUNA’s 60th Diamond Jubilee Thanksgiving Dinner, scheduled for July 2026 at Meritz Hotel in Miri.

The event is expected to be a significant milestone for the Orang Ulu community, marking six decades of the association’s contributions to cultural preservation and community development.

During the meeting, Tun Pehin Sri reflected on his early career in the Forest Police, where he worked closely with Iban and Orang Ulu colleagues.

He recounted the challenges of serving in rural areas and emphasised the values of discipline, resilience and teamwork in fulfilling responsibilities. His recollections highlighted the importance of unity across Sarawak’s diverse communities.

The governor’s remarks resonated with attendees, offering encouragement to continue fostering harmony and cooperation among Sarawak’s multi-ethnic society. He stressed that such values remain vital in ensuring the state’s progress and stability.
