SRI AMAN – A Christian prayer ceremony was held in conjunction with the 219th Police Day commemoration, bringing together officers, families, and community members in a spirit of unity and reflection.
The event took place on 21 April 2026 at Our Lady of Queen Simanggang Catholic Church, jointly organised by the Sri Aman District Police Headquarters Christian Club (KPAK) and the 23rd Battalion of the General Operations Force (PGA).
The service was led by Rev Father Jerome Juleng and attended by senior and junior police officers, civil staff, members of the Police Family Association (PERKEP), and their families.
The gathering highlighted the importance of spirituality and well-being among officers, reinforcing values of fraternity and service within the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).
Sri Aman District Police Chief, Superintendent Dennis Anak Bunyam, was present with his wife, Puan Olivia Nayun Anak Kunsu, who chairs PERKEP IPD Sri Aman.
Also in attendance were Superintendent Frediel Anak Nyambong, Commanding Officer of the 23rd PGA Battalion, and his wife, Mrs Helena Anak Jubing, PERKEP Chairperson of the battalion.
Deputy Police Chief DSP Neil Anak Beginda and Assistant Commanding Officer DSP Lawrence Saran also joined the ceremony.
The programme aimed to strengthen ties between Christian members of IPD Sri Aman and the 23rd PGA Battalion while fostering a supportive environment for officers and their families.
Organisers emphasised that such gatherings not only nurture spiritual values but also contribute to the overall morale and resilience of police personnel.
Superintendent Dennis expressed gratitude to the Catholic Church for providing the venue, acknowledging its role in supporting the police community.
As a gesture of appreciation, he and Superintendent Frediel presented a donation to the church, symbolising the partnership between law enforcement and local institutions.
The ceremony was conducted in an atmosphere of harmony and respect, reflecting the broader commitment of PDRM to uphold values of unity and community engagement.
Police officials noted that such initiatives are vital in reinforcing solidarity among officers while strengthening their bond with the wider community.
