KUCHING – The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Sarawak, in collaboration with the Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ), carried out Ops Tiris 4.0 on 26 April 2026.
The operation focused on two key locations: Jalan Tun Salahuddin (Tol) and Jalan Kuching–Serian (Batu 8).
The enforcement exercise was led by KPDN Sarawak Director, YBrs Tuan Matthew Dominic Barin, supported by 15 officers.
JPJ Sarawak was represented by Tuan Saifullah bin Haji Ali, Head of Operations Section, together with six officers.
During the operation, authorities detected a lorry that had been modified to transport diesel. The vehicle was found carrying between 600 and 700 litres of fuel. KPDN officers seized the lorry for further investigation and legal action.
In a separate case, JPJ officers detained and confiscated a luton-type lorry for violations including an expired Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM) and lack of insurance coverage.
Ops Tiris 4.0 reflects the commitment of both agencies to combat illegal activities and ensure compliance with national regulations.
The joint operation highlights the importance of coordinated enforcement in safeguarding public safety and maintaining transparency in trade and transport practices.
JPJ Sarawak expressed its appreciation to KPDN Sarawak for the close cooperation that made the operation a success.
The department emphasised that such joint initiatives are crucial in protecting the welfare of the community and upholding the integrity of enforcement efforts.
The operation forms part of ongoing nationwide measures to curb fuel misappropriation and ensure that road users adhere to licensing and insurance requirements.
Authorities have reiterated that strict enforcement will continue, with offenders facing legal consequences for violations.
By targeting illegal fuel transportation and unlicensed vehicles, Ops Tiris 4.0 demonstrates the government’s determination to safeguard both economic interests and public safety.
The collaboration between KPDN and JPJ is expected to strengthen future enforcement activities across Sarawak.
