The incident involved a Perodua Bezza and happened in the afternoon, causing concern among road users passing through the busy highway stretch.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department operations centre, an emergency call regarding the accident was received at 2.57pm.

Following the distress call, a team from the Sarikei Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the location, which was about 18 kilometres away from the station.

In a statement, the department said firefighters rushed to the scene immediately after receiving the report.

Upon arrival, rescuers found that the accident involved a single vehicle which had skidded onto the road shoulder.

Fortunately, all victims managed to get out of the vehicle safely before the firefighters arrived at the scene.

The victims were identified as an adult man, an adult woman, an elderly woman and a young boy.

Authorities confirmed that all four victims only suffered minor injuries in the incident. No fatalities were reported.

The accident is believed to have occurred when the driver lost control of the vehicle, although the exact cause is still under investigation.

Photos from the scene showed the Perodua Bezza positioned at the roadside after the crash. Despite the impact, the family was fortunate to avoid serious injuries.

The incident also attracted attention from passing motorists along the Pan Borneo Highway, which has seen several road accidents in recent years involving vehicles losing control, especially during unpredictable weather and heavy traffic conditions.

Road users have once again been reminded to remain cautious while travelling on highways and to always ensure vehicles are in good condition before starting long journeys.

The quick response from the Fire and Rescue Department also helped ensure the situation was brought under control safely and smoothly.

Although the family escaped with only light injuries, the incident serves as another reminder on the importance of road safety and careful driving, especially when travelling with loved ones.
