Following the Guard of Honour parade, the Governor, accompanied by his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd. Sanusi, proceeded to the Conference Hall to complete the official opening.

He was joined by Speaker of the Assembly, YB Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Asfia bin Awang Nassar, and Assembly Secretary YBrs Tuan Nur Azhar bin Bujang.

During the proceedings, the governor received the policy speech text from the Premier of Sarawak, YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Johari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, before delivering his own address.

In his remarks, Tun Pehin Sri underscored the importance of political stability and effective governance, stressing that Sarawak must remain prepared to face global challenges such as economic volatility, climate change, and rapid technological advancement.

He expressed confidence in the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy Agenda 2030 (PCDS 2030), describing it as a key driver for Sarawak’s transformation into a high-income economy.

The strategy, he noted, focuses on clean energy, digital innovation, advanced technology, and the aerospace industry, all of which are expected to strengthen the state’s economic resilience.

The governor also highlighted the need to close the gap between urban and rural communities. He pointed to infrastructure upgrades, improved connectivity, and investment in human capital as essential measures to ensure balanced development.

He emphasised that government services must be delivered efficiently and with integrity to enhance the well-being of the people.

Calling for unity and harmony, Tun Pehin Sri urged leaders and citizens alike to work together under visionary leadership to secure sustainable progress.

He stressed that Sarawak’s growth must benefit all communities, reinforcing the state’s commitment to inclusivity and long-term prosperity.

In closing, the governor expressed hope that the Assembly session would proceed smoothly, with constructive debates among members of the Assembly contributing to the advancement of Sarawak.

The Fifth Term of the Assembly is scheduled to continue until 20 May 2026, with key legislative matters expected to be deliberated during the sitting.
