BINTULU – The Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ) has stepped up enforcement efforts in Bintulu with a Motorcycle Special Ops carried out by the local branch on 13 May 2026.
The operation took place along Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi, focusing on static enforcement measures to ensure compliance with road regulations.
During the exercise, officers inspected 352 vehicles of different categories. The checks revealed several violations, including motorists driving without valid licences, expired licences, and technical faults involving vehicle safety standards.
In addition to these findings, enforcement teams seized a luxury car and two motorcycles. The vehicles were confiscated due to expired Motor Vehicle Licences (LKM) and the absence of insurance coverage, both of which are mandatory under current road transport laws.
JPJ Sarawak emphasised that the operation was conducted strictly in line with existing legal provisions. Officials noted that such measures are essential to safeguard road users and to reduce risks associated with non-compliance.
The department has pledged to continue strengthening enforcement activities across the state. By maintaining regular operations, JPJ aims to raise public awareness of road safety and encourage greater responsibility among drivers and riders.
Authorities highlighted that the initiative is part of a broader strategy to improve traffic discipline and reduce accidents.
Static enforcement, such as the one carried out in Bintulu, allows officers to monitor compliance more effectively and take immediate action against offenders.
JPJ Sarawak has consistently reminded motorists of the importance of adhering to road laws, including ensuring that licences and insurance documents remain valid.
Officials stressed that enforcement is not only about penalising offenders but also about promoting a culture of safety and accountability.
