BINTULU – The Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) Bintulu Division has initiated the construction of the new Tatau/Sebauh District Education Office with a formal kick-off session held on 14 May 2026.
The meeting marked the beginning of a significant infrastructure project aimed at strengthening education administration in rural parts of the division.
The session took place at the Bintulu Division Public Works Department Meeting Room and was chaired by Division Engineer Ir. Lau Sie Hung.
Also in attendance were site engineer Ms Nursahira Binti Ibrahim, agency representatives, consulting teams and other stakeholders directly involved in the project’s implementation.
The meeting focused on ensuring comprehensive coordination across all aspects of the project. Discussions covered the scope of work, technical planning, compliance with specifications, site requirements and the overall implementation schedule.
JKR emphasised the importance of integrity, transparency and professionalism throughout the construction period to ensure the project meets established standards and governance requirements.
The proposed education office is expected to play a vital role in improving the delivery of education services in Tatau and Sebauh.
Once completed, the facility will serve as a modern, safe and resilient administrative centre, enhancing efficiency in education management and providing stronger support for schools in the area.
Officials highlighted that the project aligns with the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030), which prioritises quality infrastructure, integrity-based governance and sustainable public service delivery.
By investing in education administration facilities, the state aims to improve the well-being of communities and ensure equitable access to resources across rural districts.
The initiative also reflects JKR Sarawak’s broader commitment to advancing infrastructure development across the state.
With the motto “We Build For You”, the department continues to implement high-impact projects designed to support Sarawak’s progress and improve the quality of life for its people.
The Tatau/Sebauh District Education Office project is expected to strengthen monitoring of education standards, improve administrative efficiency and provide a central hub for coordination.
It represents a step forward in Sarawak’s efforts to modernise its education system and ensure that rural communities benefit from the same level of support as urban centres.
