KUCHING – The Office of the Chief Security Officer (CGSO) of the Malaysian Government in Sarawak has carried out a follow-up inspection at the Kuching Divisional Resident’s Office to evaluate compliance with protection security standards.
The inspection, conducted on 11 June 2026, was led by State Director Mr Zainor bin Zailan, accompanied by Assistant Security Officer Mrs Nurul Zawana binti Zulkifly.
Their visit was part of ongoing efforts to ensure that earlier recommendations for strengthening security practices have been effectively implemented.
The review focused on several key areas, including physical security arrangements, the management of official documents, personnel safety, and the safeguarding of government assets.
These measures are considered essential in maintaining the integrity of public administration and ensuring that government operations remain secure.
CGSO Sarawak emphasised that the inspection was not only about compliance but also about reinforcing a culture of safety within the Resident Office.
By embedding strong security practices into daily operations, the office is expected to uphold high standards in the delivery of government services.
Security governance has become increasingly important in recent years, particularly as government agencies face challenges related to data protection, asset management, and operational risks.
The CGSO plays a central role in coordinating these efforts across departments, ensuring that protective measures are consistent and effective.
During the inspection, the team assessed whether corrective actions identified in previous reviews had been properly addressed.
This follow-up approach reflects CGSO’s commitment to continuous improvement, ensuring that vulnerabilities are managed proactively rather than reactively.
The Resident Office of the Kuching Division was encouraged to maintain its compliance and to continue prioritising safety in its administrative functions.
CGSO Sarawak reiterated its dedication to working closely with all government departments and agencies to strengthen protection security governance.
By fostering collaboration and accountability, the CGSO aims to safeguard the interests of the government and the public.
The inspection serves as a reminder that effective security management is integral to the credibility and resilience of government institutions.
