BETONG – The Director of Sarawak Public Works, YBhg Datu Adj Prof Ir Ts Gs Br PMr QPr Dr Cassidy anak Morris, carried out a working visit to the Paku River Bridge Project site on 14 June to assess the progress of construction.
He was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Sarawak Ministry of Infrastructure and Port Development, Datu Chiew Chee Yau.
The delegation received a detailed briefing from Betong JKR Division Engineer Jason Ng Boon Tuan, who outlined the latest developments and the current status of work on site.
The Paku River Bridge Project involves the construction of a 107-metre steel bridge, designed to improve connectivity and support regional development.
According to the project team, physical progress has reached 88.52 percent, placing the initiative in its final stages before completion.
The visit highlighted the importance of infrastructure projects in enhancing accessibility and supporting economic growth in Betong and surrounding areas.
The bridge is expected to provide a more reliable link for residents, businesses, and travellers, reducing travel time and improving safety.
Officials noted that the project reflects Sarawak’s broader commitment to modernising infrastructure and strengthening transport networks across the state.

The review by the Public Works Director also underscored the emphasis on quality assurance and timely delivery.
