KUCHING – The second edition of Kuching Car Free Morning at Medan Raya Masja on 14 June 2026 drew enthusiastic participation, offering a vibrant mix of health, leisure, and family-friendly activities.
This week’s programme was organised in collaboration with the Sarawak State Mosque Welfare Trust Board as part of the Maal Hijrah Festival 1448H/2026M.
The partnership added cultural and spiritual significance to the event while maintaining its focus on promoting healthy living and community engagement.
Participants enjoyed a wide range of activities designed to appeal to all ages. Among the highlights were a Health Run, Leisure Cycling, Aerodance sessions, and free health screenings.
Families with children were drawn to creative competitions such as colouring and sand art, alongside playful attractions like Let’s Bubble Kids and dedicated playground areas.
Environmental awareness was also a key theme. A Low Carbon Exhibition showcased sustainable practices, while compost sales encouraged eco-friendly habits. These initiatives reflected Kuching’s growing commitment to sustainability and responsible consumption.
Organisers noted that the Car Free Morning programme continues to strengthen community bonds by providing a safe, vehicle-free space for residents to gather, exercise, and enjoy recreational activities.
The initiative also supports public health goals by encouraging active lifestyles and reducing carbon emissions in the city centre.
The event was made possible through the collaboration of strategic partners, organisers, and the active participation of the Kuching residents.
Their involvement ensured the programme ran smoothly and created a lively atmosphere throughout the morning.
With strong turnout and positive feedback, Kuching Car Free Morning has quickly become a popular weekly fixture.
The organisers expressed gratitude to all who contributed and confirmed that the third edition will take place next week, promising more activities to keep the community engaged.
