The complainant reported the presence of a naning wasp nest on a tree close to their home, raising concerns about the risk posed to family members and neighbours.

PKOD promptly coordinated with the Civil Defence Force (APM) Sematan, who were dispatched to handle the situation.

APM officers carried out the removal operation with protective equipment and established procedures to minimise danger.

Wasp nests, particularly those situated near homes, are considered hazardous due to the insects’ defensive behaviour when disturbed.

Their stings can cause severe allergic reactions, making professional intervention essential. Local authorities emphasised that such cases highlight the importance of community vigilance.

Residents are encouraged to report insect nests immediately rather than attempting removal themselves, as improper handling can lead to serious injuries.

The swift response by APM Sematan reflects their operational commitment to safeguarding public welfare.

Officials noted that insect nest destruction cases are not uncommon in Sarawak’s rural and semi-urban areas, where dense vegetation provides suitable habitats for wasps and other stinging insects.

Emergency teams across the state remain on standby to respond to similar threats, ensuring that communities remain protected.

The APM Lundu-Sematan Public Relations and Documentation Unit reiterated their guiding principle of “Ready, Fast & With Integrity,” underlining the values that drive their emergency operations.
