Father’s Day Service Session Draws Strong Community Response
KUCHING, June 21 — A community service session organised by the SUPP Batu Lintang Branch Brother Tong Team in conjunction with Father’s Day received an encouraging response from residents, reflecting the strong trust and close relationship between the team and the local community.
Held at the branch office, the service session provided an opportunity for residents to meet team members face-to-face to seek assistance, obtain information on government policies and programmes, and raise concerns affecting their neighbourhoods.
Throughout the session, residents arrived steadily to discuss a variety of issues and enquiries. Team members listened carefully to each concern and worked to provide guidance, information and support wherever possible.
The event highlighted the importance of community engagement and direct interaction between service teams and residents. For many attendees, the session offered a convenient platform to seek clarification on matters affecting their daily lives and local surroundings.
What made the event particularly meaningful was the dedication shown by Brother Tong and his team even after the official service hours had ended. Following the session, the team moved to a nearby coffee shop for lunch. However, residents continued approaching Brother Tong with questions, concerns and requests for assistance.
Despite being outside official service hours, he patiently took time to listen and provide advice to those who sought help. The continued willingness of residents to approach him demonstrated the level of confidence and trust the community has placed in the team.
According to the organisers, such trust serves as both an encouragement and a responsibility. They stressed that community service is not limited to office hours or service counters but requires a genuine commitment to helping people whenever assistance is needed.
Although Batu Lintang does not currently have a local elected representative operating through a dedicated service centre, the Brother Tong Team has continued serving residents over the years through community programmes, branch activities and direct engagement with the public.
The team said its commitment has always been to remain close to the people and respond to community needs whenever possible. Whether during organised service sessions, local activities or even informal encounters, the team strives to provide assistance and support to residents.
As the Father’s Day celebration concluded, the team expressed its appreciation to residents for their continued trust and support. It reaffirmed its commitment to listening to the community, addressing concerns and maintaining strong connections with the people of Batu Lintang.
The team also extended its best wishes to all fathers, wishing them good health, happiness and a joyful Father’s Day celebration.
