MATU – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in Matu District successfully neutralised a large wasp nest discovered inside a household speaker at Tian Village on Monday, 22 June 2026.
The District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) received an urgent call from a resident reporting the presence of the nest, which was estimated to be the size of a basketball.
The unusual location of the nest inside a speaker raised immediate safety concerns for the household and surrounding community.
Upon arrival, APM personnel were directed to the site by the complainant. Officers then prepared protective gear and specialised equipment before commencing the removal operation.
The team followed strict safety procedures to ensure the task was carried out without harm to residents or responders.
The operation involved spraying insecticide, including Ridsect, combined with controlled fire application to fully destroy the nest.
This method ensured the insects were eliminated and the risk of further infestation was removed. Once the procedure was completed, the area was declared safe.
