SUPP Kuching Marks 67 Years of Service and Unity

Kuching, June 28: The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Kuching Branch celebrated its 67th SA’ATI Commemorative Night with a strong call for unity, continued service to the people, and support for Sarawak’s long-term development agenda under the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Government.

The dinner brought together party leaders, members of the Central Working Committee, branch chairmen, community leaders, councillors, business leaders, members of the media and supporters to commemorate the branch’s long history of serving the people of Padungan and Sarawak.

Speaking during the event, the branch chairman said the celebration was more than just an anniversary. He described it as an opportunity to renew the party’s commitment to its founding principles and reaffirm its responsibility to continue serving the people.

He said the theme, “67 Years of Commitment, United in Purpose, Serving Padungan Together”, reflects the branch’s dedication to maintaining unity while working for the development and well-being of the local community.

According to the speech, the strength of the SUPP Kuching Branch over the past 67 years has always been built on unity. The chairman stressed that unity is not simply a slogan but must be demonstrated through practical action, cooperation and teamwork among members, supporters and the wider community.

He encouraged party members to continue bringing together people from all walks of life, including young people, community leaders and supporters, to achieve common goals for Padungan and Sarawak.

The chairman also highlighted Sarawak’s current stage of development under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg. He noted that the state’s Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030) is driving progress in digital transformation, green energy, innovation and the development of a high-income economy.

He said these initiatives are creating new opportunities for Sarawak while preparing the state for future economic growth.

The speech also emphasised the GPS Government’s continued efforts to safeguard and strengthen Sarawak’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63). These efforts, he said, are important in securing greater autonomy and creating better opportunities for future generations.

As part of the ruling coalition, SUPP reaffirmed its support for the GPS Government and Premier Abang Johari in achieving the aspirations outlined in PCDS 2030 and building a stronger, more prosperous Sarawak.

The chairman also reminded members that serving Padungan is not merely a campaign message but a long-term responsibility. Likewise, he said developing Padungan requires the collective commitment of party members, community leaders and residents.

During the dinner, appreciation was expressed to SUPP President Datuk Amar Dr. Sim Kui Hian, who is also Deputy Premier of Sarawak and Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, for attending the celebration despite his busy schedule.

The chairman said Dr. Sim’s leadership, encouragement and continuous support have inspired party members to move forward with confidence while strengthening the party’s role in serving the people.

He also thanked the organising committee, sponsors, supporters, community leaders and distinguished guests for contributing to the success of the 67th SA’ATI Night Dinner.

Concluding his speech, the chairman said the party’s 67th anniversary marks the beginning of a new chapter rather than the end of its journey.

He urged members to continue embracing the spirit of SA’ATI, remain united, serve with dedication and work together for the continued progress of Padungan, the success of SUPP and the long-term prosperity of Sarawak.

He ended the evening by wishing the party continued success in the years ahead, while extending his best wishes for good health, happiness and success to everyone present.
