The committee extended an official invitation to the Premier to attend the celebration, which will be held in Sibu from 20 to 22 July.

The visit also provided an opportunity to brief him on the programme highlights and logistical arrangements for the three-day event.

Among the activities planned are the Sarawak Day Exhibition, a thanksgiving ceremony involving multiple faiths, a Unity Walk, a townhall session, a Zumba programme and a People’s Concert.

These events are expected to attract participation from diverse communities across Sarawak, reflecting the state’s multicultural identity.

The Premier expressed his support for the preparations, noting that Sarawak Day serves as a vital platform to strengthen unity among the state’s multi-racial population.

He emphasised that the celebration should also deepen appreciation for Sarawak’s history, heritage and aspirations for continued development.

Senior state leaders were present during the courtesy call, including Minister of Transport Sarawak Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, Deputy Minister of Town Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Haji Len Talif Salleh, Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs and Sarawak Public Communications Unit) Datuk Abdullah bin Haji Saidol, Deputy Minister of Port Development Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, Director of the Sarawak Protocol, Ceremonies and Event Management Unit (UPPANS) Datu Hamdan bin Haji Sharbini, and Sibu Division Resident Encik Superi bin Awang Said.

The Sarawak Day celebration has grown into a significant annual event, commemorating the state’s historical journey while promoting inclusivity and community spirit.

Organisers hope that the 2026 edition will not only highlight Sarawak’s cultural diversity but also inspire greater civic pride among younger generations.

With Sibu as the host city, the celebration is expected to draw large crowds, boosting local tourism and providing economic opportunities for businesses.

The combination of cultural, recreational and educational programmes aims to ensure that the event resonates with all segments of society.

The Premier reiterated his confidence that Sarawak Day 2026 will be a meaningful occasion, reinforcing unity and showcasing the state’s collective progress.

He encouraged all Sarawakians to participate actively, making the celebration a reflection of shared values and aspirations for the future.
