The Mukah District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) confirmed that the reptile was discovered in the yard of a residential property.

Concerned for safety, the complainant contacted APM Mukah, which immediately dispatched personnel to the location.

Upon arrival, the team conducted a safety assessment before proceeding with the capture. Using the pincer technique, the snake was secured without incident.

The operation was completed smoothly, and the situation at the site was brought under control. Officials explained that cane snakes, while generally non-venomous, can still cause alarm when found near homes.

Their presence in residential areas is often linked to nearby vegetation or food sources. Authorities emphasised that residents should avoid attempting to catch snakes themselves, as improper handling can lead to accidents.

This latest case highlights the importance of community vigilance and the role of APM in managing wildlife encounters.

In recent weeks, similar operations have been reported across Sarawak, including the capture of a 14-foot batik python in Saratok and the removal of smaller snakes in Mukah kitchens.

Each intervention demonstrates the organisation’s readiness to act swiftly in safeguarding public health and safety.

APM Mukah continues to operate under its guiding principle of “Ready, Fast, With Integrity”, reflecting its commitment to professionalism and efficiency.

Local officials also emphasised the importance of community cooperation, urging residents to report emergencies promptly to ensure rapid intervention.

For urgent cases, members of the public in Mukah and surrounding areas can reach the Civil Defence Force at 084-872814, available 24 hours a day.

As Sarawak strengthens its emergency response framework, incidents like this highlight the unpredictable nature of wildlife encounters and the need for swift, coordinated action to protect communities.

The safe capture of the cane snake in Mukah serves as a reminder of the dedication of frontline personnel and the importance of preparedness in maintaining public safety.
