KUCHING, July 4 – Sarawak Water Sdn Bhd has been officially announced as the Principal Strategic Partner for the Borneo International Water and Wastewater Exhibition and Conference (BIWWEC) 2026, a major event set to position Sarawak as a hub for water innovation and climate resilience.
The announcement was made by the Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Sarawak, Dato Sri Haji Julaihi bin Haji Narawi, during the BIWWEC 2026 press conference. The event will take place from 15 to 17 July 2026 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) under the theme “Global Partnerships for a Climate-Ready Water Future.”
In a milestone development, Sarawak Water’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Puan Malseni binti Jamal, has been appointed as the Organising Chairman of BIWWEC 2026. “We are grateful for the continued guidance and support from the Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication Sarawak. BIWWEC 2026 is truly a collective undertaking and we look forward to welcoming the global water community to Kuching,” she said.
The conference is expected to attract more than 1,500 delegates and 2,500 trade visitors from around the world. Over 70 international speakers and exhibitors will participate, showcasing cutting-edge solutions and technologies in water and wastewater management. A special highlight will be the Sarawak Water Pavilion, which will feature a dedicated Young Water Professionals segment aimed at inspiring the next generation of leaders in the sector.
Sarawak Water emphasised its commitment to delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable water services while advancing digital transformation and operational excellence. The partnership with BIWWEC 2026 is seen as an opportunity to anchor Sarawak’s role in promoting climate-ready water solutions and environmental stewardship.
The Right Honourable Premier of Sarawak is scheduled to officiate the grand launch later this month, underscoring the importance of the event to the state’s development agenda.
BIWWEC 2026 is expected to serve as a platform for collaboration among industry professionals, technology providers, and policymakers, reinforcing Sarawak’s position as a regional leader in sustainable water management.
