SELANGAU – The Sibu Divisional Youth and Sports Office (PBSB) has reaffirmed its commitment to youth development by supporting the MyLesen B2 Programme organised by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) Malaysia.
The initiative, held in the Selangau Parliament and Tamin State Assembly areas, aims to increase the number of young people holding valid motorcycle licences.
The programme was officiated by YB Ir. Christopher Gira Sambang, State Assemblyman for N.59 Tamin, and attended by Tuan Mohd Faizal David, Deputy Director of JPJ Sarawak.
PBSB Sibu’s delegation was led by Divisional Youth and Sports Officer Puan Nur Fatheen Khairuzan bt Seleman, signalling strong support for the initiative.
The MyLesen B2 Programme is designed to assist young people, particularly those from lower-income families, in obtaining a Class B2 motorcycle licence legally.
By doing so, the government hopes to raise awareness about road safety, encourage compliance with traffic laws, and reduce the risks associated with illegal racing and other unsafe practices.
PBSB Sibu highlighted that collaboration between agencies is crucial in advancing the youth development agenda.
Such partnerships are expected to produce a generation of disciplined and responsible young people who can contribute positively to Sarawak’s growth and Malaysia’s future.
The programme also reflects wider government efforts to strengthen human capital development. By providing affordable access to driving licences, young people are empowered to improve their mobility, expand employment opportunities, and participate more actively in community life.
PBSB Sibu’s involvement underscores its role in promoting holistic youth development. The office continues to support initiatives that combine practical skills, safety awareness, and community engagement, ensuring that young people are well-prepared to face future challenges.
The MyLesen B2 Programme is part of JPJ’s ongoing strategy to make road safety education more accessible and to encourage responsible behaviour among young drivers.
With PBSB Sibu’s participation, the initiative demonstrates how inter-agency cooperation can strengthen community well-being and youth empowerment.
