KUCHING – The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, together with his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Hajjah Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, visited his aunt at Sarawak General Hospital on 4 July.
The visit was made to check on Puan Sharifah Rasidah binti Tuanku Abdul Rahman, the youngest sister of Tun Pehin Sri’s mother, who was admitted to hospital last week. The Governor and Toh Puan were accompanied by family members during the visit, reflecting their close ties and concern for her wellbeing.
Welcoming them at the ward was her husband, Tuan Haji Zakaria Mat Taib, along with their daughter Puan Siti Azlina Wan Husain and her husband Lt. Col. Anuar Ahmad, PS1 Administration at the 1st Division Headquarters. Other relatives were also present, creating a supportive atmosphere for the patient.
During the visit, the Governor and Toh Puan took time to greet other patients receiving treatment in the ward, offering words of encouragement and showing compassion beyond their immediate family circle. Their presence was warmly received by those in the hospital.
The Governor expressed his prayers and hopes for his aunt’s recovery, wishing her strength and good health so she may soon return home to her family. “We pray for her to recover soon and continue to be blessed with good health,” he said.
This visit highlights the Governor’s commitment to family values and community care, reinforcing the importance of empathy and solidarity during times of illness. It also reflects the broader cultural emphasis in Sarawak on supporting relatives and neighbours in moments of need.
The hospital continues to provide treatment and monitoring for Puan Sharifah Rasidah, with family members remaining by her side. The Governor’s visit has been seen as a gesture of encouragement, not only for his aunt but also for other patients and staff at the hospital.
