The Premier’s one-hour visit allowed him to personally assess the readiness of the MSCCC, which is designed to serve as the central hub for monitoring and managing smart city operations in Miri.

The centre is expected to play a pivotal role in integrating technology into urban management, public safety, and service delivery.

Upon arrival, the premier was given a detailed briefing on the centre’s concept, functions, and technological capabilities.

The MSCCC has been developed to enhance city services through real-time data integration, ensuring more efficient and coordinated responses to community needs.

He later observed demonstrations showcasing various smart systems, including city surveillance applications, infrastructure management tools, and operational coordination platforms.

These technologies are intended to improve the quality of life for residents by streamlining services and strengthening public safety measures.

The initiative reflects Sarawak’s broader commitment to digitalisation under the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030).

The strategy emphasises innovation and technology as key drivers of sustainable development, positioning Sarawak as a leader in smart city solutions across Malaysia.

The MSCCC is expected to become a cornerstone of Sarawak’s smart city ecosystem, supporting urban resilience and efficiency.

By leveraging digital platforms, the centre aims to provide integrated solutions for facility monitoring, traffic management, and emergency response, while also improving transparency and accountability in service delivery.

The Premier concluded his visit by inspecting the facilities and engaging with officers and technical teams involved in the project.

His presence underscored the government’s commitment to ensuring that the centre is fully prepared to meet the demands of modern urban management.

The development of the MSCCC marks another step forward in Sarawak’s ambition to create smart, sustainable cities that harness technology for the benefit of communities, aligning with the state’s long-term vision for inclusive growth and innovation.
