BAU – Police in Bau District have confirmed the arrest of six men suspected of drug abuse during a joint operation conducted on 7 July 2026.
The operation, codenamed Op Tapis, was carried out between 10.20 am and 12.00 pm noon in Grogo Village and Opar Bau Village.
Officers from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division, together with members of Bau District Police Headquarters, were deployed to the targeted areas.
During the inspection, one suspect was found in possession of two plastic packets containing crystalline substances believed to be syabu. He was detained under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Initial urine screening tests conducted on all six suspects returned positive results for drug use. They were subsequently detained under the same section of the Dangerous Drugs Act for further investigation.
Bau District Police Chief PISUPT Mohd Haide bin A. Rahman stressed that the Royal Malaysia Police will continue to take firm action against anyone involved in drug abuse.
He reiterated that narcotics remain a serious threat to society and that enforcement efforts will be intensified to protect communities.
