KUCHING – The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, accompanied by Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Hajjah Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, arrived safely in Kuching on 12 July following their official engagements in Sibu Division.
The couple landed at the Hornbill Skyways Terminal at 11.50 am after departing from Sibu Airport earlier that morning.
Their arrival was greeted by officers from Astana Sarawak, marking the conclusion of a two-day visit that included participation in the Mowe Nation Festival and related community events.
During their time in Sibu, the governor and Toh Puan officiated the Mowe Nation Festival Dinner Ceremony at Kingwood Hotel, attended by nearly 200 members of the Mowe family from Sarawak and overseas.
The festival, held biennially, is recognised as a platform for strengthening family ties, preserving heritage, and fostering unity among diverse communities.
The governor also attended the welcoming ceremony at Sibu Airport on 11 July, where he was received by senior government officials, community leaders, and tribal representatives.
The visit included cultural activities, prayers led by the Sibu Division Islamic Religious Department, and interactions with local organisers.
Reflecting on the visit, Tun Pehin Sri and Toh Puan expressed gratitude for the smooth execution of the events and the warm hospitality extended by the people of Sibu.
They highlighted the importance of such gatherings in promoting harmony, inclusivity, and cultural preservation, which are central to Sarawak’s identity.
The governor’s engagements in Sibu were part of broader efforts to maintain close ties with communities across the state.
