KUCHING – North Kuching City Hall (DBKU) has held a preparatory meeting with Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) to coordinate arrangements for the upcoming Sarawak Urban Forum 2.0 (SUF 2.0).
The forum, scheduled to take place from 24 to 27 October 2026 at the Hikmah Exchange Event Centre (HEEC), will focus on the theme “Future-Ready Cities: Building A Resilient Future – Collaborate, Adapt, Thrive.”
The meeting was chaired by DBKU Director, Yang Berusaha Encik Ramzi bin Abdillah, while BESarawak was represented by its chief executive officer, Encik Jason Tan Chin Foo.
Discussions centred on strengthening collaboration, refining organisational strategies, and ensuring that SUF 2.0 serves as a dynamic platform for dialogue on urban resilience and sustainability.
SUF 2.0 is expected to bring together policymakers, industry experts, academics, local authorities, and community stakeholders.
Organisers emphasised that the forum will provide opportunities to exchange ideas, share best practices, and explore innovative approaches to building smarter and more inclusive cities in Sarawak.
The initiative reflects DBKU’s commitment to advancing urban development that balances growth with sustainability.
By working closely with BESarawak, the city council aims to ensure that the forum not only addresses immediate urban challenges but also sets the stage for long-term strategies aligned with Sarawak’s Post-COVID Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
Urban forums of this nature have become increasingly important as cities worldwide grapple with issues such as climate change, rapid urbanisation, and technological disruption.
SUF 2.0 will provide Sarawak with a platform to showcase its progress in adopting smart city solutions while also learning from global experiences.
The collaboration between DBKU and BESarawak highlights the growing role of business events in supporting knowledge exchange and policy development.
BESarawak has been instrumental in positioning Sarawak as a hub for international conferences and forums, contributing to both economic growth and professional development across sectors.
Organisers noted that SUF 2.0 will feature a range of sessions, including keynote addresses, panel discussions, and workshops.
These will cover topics such as sustainable infrastructure, digital innovation, community inclusivity, and adaptive governance.
The forum is expected to attract participants from across Malaysia and beyond, reinforcing Sarawak’s reputation as a forward-looking state committed to resilient urban planning.
The meeting concluded with both DBKU and BESarawak reaffirming their commitment to ensuring that SUF 2.0 is executed successfully.
They expressed confidence that the forum will strengthen collaboration among stakeholders and provide actionable insights to guide Sarawak’s urban future.
As preparations continue, SUF 2.0 is anticipated to become a landmark event in Sarawak’s calendar, offering a platform for meaningful dialogue and practical solutions to the challenges of modern urban development.
