During the operation, officers discovered a transparent packet containing crystal-like substances believed to be syabu.

Initial screening tests conducted by police revealed that both suspects tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine.

Authorities confirmed that the case is being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which relates to possession of drugs, and Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act, which covers drug consumption offences.

The arrests highlight the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in tackling drug-related activities within Sarawak’s communities.

Police have reiterated their firm stance against narcotics, stressing that they will not compromise when it comes to offences that threaten public safety and well-being.

IPD Kapit has urged residents to remain vigilant and to provide information on any suspected drug activities in the district.

Officers emphasised that community cooperation is vital in curbing the spread of drugs and ensuring a safer environment for all.

Drug abuse remains a pressing issue across Malaysia, with authorities continuing to intensify enforcement and awareness campaigns.

In Sarawak, police have consistently called on the public to support their efforts by reporting suspicious activities and participating in community-based prevention programmes.

The Kapit arrests serve as a reminder of the importance of collective responsibility in addressing drug-related problems.

By working together, law enforcement and the community can help reduce the impact of narcotics on society and protect future generations from the dangers of addiction.
